Easy Installations teamed up with T-Square Construction to give this small bathroom a refresh renovation featuring IKEA’s Veddinge cabinet doors. Making a small space feel bright and spacious can be a challenge, but in the end that’s exactly what our designer Esther Moores was able to do! Let’s take a look.
Bathroom Renovation – Preserving the Original Touches
This small, slightly dated bathroom had some original touches our client wanted to keep. A few of these touches as seen in the ‘before’ photo below included:
- Glass-block wall
- His and Hers sinks
- Angled storage between the sinks
Bathroom Renovation – Layout ‘Before’
You can see from the ‘before’ photos above and below, there is a stand alone shower stall to the left and a bathtub to the right of the built-in vanity. The standard 60″ x 32″ size bathtub was taking up valuable space in the bathroom’s limited footprint. As the tub was hardly ever used, it was on the renovation list to be removed. The shower stall was also going to be torn out and a new glass and tile shower installed in the bathtub location.
Bathroom Renovation – Changes to be Made
With the big renovation decisions in place, the next step was to look at the best IKEA Sektion configurations to replace the existing vanity, and to select a cabinet door style for a fresh updated look. We were also adding storage for linens, and needed to consider the best cabinet options for this. Other upgrades for the bathroom renovation included:
- Replace tile flooring
- Install tiled shower with glass surround and door
- Replace His and Hers Sinks
- Select new countertop
- Update back splash tile
- Update paint colour
Here’s a snapshot before the new-to-market ‘barn door’ style shower door was installed.
We love the sleek dark grey tile that our client chose for the shower walls, and really like the contrast of the new lighter flooring!
And here’s an after shot showing the shower door installed. Doesn’t that “barn door” style look stunning?
Fun Fact: We did a kitchen renovation for this client in 2016 and she loved her laminate kitchen countertop by Paterson Countertops so much that she went with the same countertop in her bathroom! This is a great way to unify the flow of your home’s look from one room to another.
New His and Hers sinks in a rectangle shape added a modern touch to the updated vanity.
The new side-by-side sinks were separated by a custom designed and installed cabinet that replaced the previous set of drawers. Choosing a custom cabinet instead of drawers provided more functional storage and kept the clean lines of the vanity consistent.
When we removed the shower stall it gave us the necessary space to install a linen cabinet along with an additional set of drawers. Simple and classic knobs were used to keep the look modern yet timeless.
An IKEA “Pantry” cabinet was selected by Esther to create stylish floor to ceiling linen storage. We love the combination of shelves and double drawers in this unit that provide different storage options for our client.
What a stunning bathroom!
