Earlier this summer Ikea released a new door style, a light gray version of their very popular Grimslov off white. The Grimslov Gray is stunning, and has a beautiful finish. The gray door differs from the off white door in that it is made of a solid birch frame with a light gray stain and then finished with a clear acrylic lacquer. This slight difference in texture definitely amplifies the higher end feeling of the door.
Needless to say we were very excited to begin offering this option to our clients. Especially since we had found that many people have been drawn to the trend of gray kitchen cabinets, but were finding the Bodbyn Gray IKEA door a bit too dark for their space. Esther Moores was already working with clients who wanted to convert a family home into a multi-use home care facility, on a sunny acerage. This kitchen space was to be used day to day by residents, but our clients also wanted to have a space that was functional for holding meetings and small cooking classes.
What a gorgeous space! Projects like this really put smiles on our faces as we know this kitchen will be loved and appreciated by many for years to come!
Check out that gorgeous island, perfect for teaching residents to cook!
This project had some special requirements, hence the two fridges side by side, the cook top and wall oven built into the cabinet, as well as an industrial faucet, the Vimmern from IKEA, and a top mount large double sink, the Hillesjon also from IKEA. The gorgeous gray of the cabinets is really accented in the swoon-worthy countertop, which is actually a laminate! Supplied and installed by our friends at Paterson Countertops, this is Wilsonart’s Calcutta Marble.
This space still needs some finishing touches, when we went in to take a peek our clients said they were still working on picking a backsplash tile to tie the space together, and they told us that they were planning on painting the brick to modernize the look.
